Job Summary:
The Maintenance Engineer assists the Facilities Director and Assistant Facilities Manager in the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the building systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire control, electrical, and irrigation. This critical position responds to alarm notifications received from the building automation system (Automated Logic). The position will rotate being on 24-hour call for an emergency. Typical emergencies are weather-related or mechanical failures on the Frist Art Museum site.
Job Requirements: The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual that understands the importance of being a team player. Able to work well under pressure with short deadlines. They will need to have the ability to exercise sound judgment in handling emergencies. Must be personable, with good customer service skills.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs preventive maintenance under the direction of the Facilities Director.
- Performs “work orders” requested by the Frist Art Museum staff under the direction of the Facilities Director.
- Assists in office moves and relocations.
- Performs and records daily building rounds. This involves regularly inspecting the building, buildings systems, and equipment to determine appropriate required maintenance to correct any unforeseen issues.
- Assists in the custodial care of the facility including parking lots, outdoor walkways, interior and exterior lighting, landscaping, and restrooms.
- Accurately and thoroughly complete paperwork and electronic documentation as assigned including periodic reports and maintenance records.
- Work with volunteers in a positive and constructive manner.
- Utilize third-party apps to streamline workflow processes and enhance productivity in accordance with job requirements.
- Painting of walls and other architectural elements to maintain the museum facility.
- Performs other duties as may be necessary to support the mission and goals of department and the Frist Art Museum.
Education, Minimum Qualifications, and Experience:
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Technical knowledge attained at a previous job or through school.
- Must have a basic ability to use a computer, Microsoft Office software, and ability to learn new software.
- Must have basic knowledge of HVAC and preventive maintenance.
- Must be EPA certified or obtain certification within the first 6 months of employment.
- Must have basic knowledge of reading blueprints.
- Must have a basic knowledge of maintaining kitchen equipment.
- Must be self-motivated, a team player, with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to successfully pass a Security Background and DMV check.

Guest Services Associate
(Full-time, Part-time, On-call Non-exempt)

It is a noncollecting art museum, with some exhibitions developed in house and others on loan from major institutions from across the country and around the world. Job Summary: Staff the Frist Art Museum Guest Services and Member desks which includes selling daily tickets and memberships, serving the needs of Frist members, and answering phones when necessary. Job Summary: The priorities of every member of the retail team are to meet projected sales goals, provide the best customer service and expand the customer base for the purpose of supporting the mission of the Frist Art Museum. Working as a group, all staff must be multi-task and detail oriented, flexible, even keeled, and accepting of the Frist’s diverse client base. Each member of the sales staff is an integral part of our operation and, while all members of the gift shop staff will be familiar with all facets of store operation, individual staff members may be assigned specialties in merchandise or other areas of the retail operation.

Essential Job Functions:
- Learn, remain familiar with, and sell the oft-changing array of merchandise in the Frist gift shop.
- Maintain and organize all visual displays and understock to assure that the shop makes a strong visual presentation.
- Promote and sell Frist memberships.
- Serve customers and museum members in a manner that helps ensure an excellent Frist experience.
- Work with volunteers in a positive and constructive manner that demonstrates their value to the shop and the museum.
- Assure ADA compliance and be ready to offer accommodation as needed to visitors in the gift shop.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Perform opening and closing procedures on each scheduled shift.
- Perform other duties as needed or requested by Gift Shop Manager.
General Job Functions:
- Basic computer literacy, familiarity with POS systems a plus.
- Create and follow through on sales transactions to assure customer’s complete satisfaction.
- Wrap or bag merchandise for customers for carry-out and/or shipment as requested.
- Maintain the cleanliness and order of the store’s retail and off-the-floor workspace.
- Organize, maintain, and restock the shop’s on-the-floor merchandise and understock, all inventory and supporting supplies.
- Assist in opening and closing the store as requested.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Maintain knowledge of Frist exhibitions and weekly activities/programs.

The Frist’s retail operation was created as an aesthetic complement to the Frist Art Museum and maintains a high and consistent level of expertise in its operation. The primary purpose of the gift shop is to produce revenue to support for the Frist’s programs and activities and enhance the experience of visiting the Frist Art Museum.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
